[ Objective ] To understand the situation of synthetic sweeteners added in some foods of Xiamen markets in 2011. [Methods] The samples were determined by gas chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography based on the national standards. [Results] The total qualified rate for synthetic sweeteners (sodium cyclamate, saccharin sodium and acesulfame potassium) in 58 food samples from Xiamen markets was 91.4%. The detectable rate of sodium cyclamate was 24.1% , which was higher than others. The qualified rate of acesulfame potassium was the lowest (91.4% ). The qualified rate of jelly sample was 71.4% , which was the lowest. [ Conclusion] The situation of synthetic sweeteners added in some foods of Xiamen markets is satisfactory. However, the enterprises should improve self-discipline, and related departments should strengthen supervision.
