[Objective] To quantitatively and comprehensively analyze the health life loss of disability and death caused by pneumoconiosis by comprehensive evaluation index of disease burden, that is disability adjusted life year (DALY),evaluate the influence of coal worker's pneumoconiosis (CWP) on the health of the specific population,as well as the productivity loss and economic loss.[Methods] 6 344 CWP patients were collected from Huaibei Coal Mine Group from 1963-2014.The formula from burden of disease was used to calculate the health life loss from disability and death. The loss of social productivity was calculated through productivity weighting and the national per capita gross domestic product (GDP) in 2014.[Results] 1 505 patients have died among 6 344 CWP patients, resulting in a total of 4 649.24 years of healthy life loss (YLL),and average loss was 2.91 years per capita. All CWP patients had the healthy life loss from disability (YLD),for a grand total of 33 353.40 years, and average loss was 5.26 (0.45-21.93 years) years per capita. The YLD in patients aged 40-<55 years old accounted for the largest proportion of the total YLD.The smaller age of diagnosis, the greater the YLD.6 344 CWP patients produced a total of 38 002.63 years of healthy life loss, and the average loss was 5.99 years per capita. The per capita GDP of Huaibei City in 2014 was 46 531 RMB.As a standard, the social productivity loss caused by the disease of 6 344 CWP patients reached 1 290 493 577 RMB.[Conclusion] The loss of healthy life caused by disability or death in CWP patients is serious, and the loss of social productivity caused by CWP is also huge.Preventing or delaying the onset of pneumoconiosis is the key to reduce DALY of coal miners and economic losses.
