Analysis of the current status of self-disclosure and related factors of HIV/AIDS patients
Objective To examine the current status and related factors of self-disclosure amongpeople living with(human immunodeficiency virus,HIV)or acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)patients.Methods From January to May 2022,a total of 281 HIV/AIDS patients in a designated diagnosis and treatment of a tertiary A hospitals in Changsha were selected by convenience sampling.demographic information questionnaire,the social support rating scale,Berger HIV stigma scale and distress disclosure index were used for the study,and the data was analyzed.Results The total score for HIV self-disclosure was(34.09± 9.65)of the 281 HIV/AIDS patients in a designated diagnosis and treatment of a tertiary A hospitals in Changsha.The total social support score was(30.53±7.20)points,the subjective support score was(18.00±4.21)points,the objective support score was(6.39± 2.65)points,and the social support utilization score was(6.20±2.09)points.The score of perceived discrimination was(110.42± 13.02)points,which was above the medium level.The scores of each dimension were individualized discrimination(48.31±6.69)points,worry about publicity(32.09±3.55)points,negative self-impression(33.53±4.89)points and concern about public attitude(57.27±7.75)points.The dimensions of social support were positively correlated with self-disclosure(r=0.465,0.524,0.664,all P<0.05)and negatively correlated with perceived discrimination(r=-0.573,P<0.05).After excluding the interference of control variables(residency,marriage and transmission)on self-disclosure of HIV/AIDS patients,social support and perceived discrimination variables entered the regression equation and explained 58.9%of the variance in self-disclosuretogether with the control variables.Conclusions HIV/AIDS patients'self-disclosure was at a moderate to low level,social support showed positive anticipation of self-disclosure,and perceived discrimination showed negative anticipation of self-disclosure.Medical staff should consider the influence of social support and perceived discrimination on patients'self-disclosure,and develop psychological care plans to improve their self-disclosure level and reduce the psychological pressure.
