Prevalence and trend of overweight and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Changsha City
Objective To understand the current prevalence of overweight and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Changsha City and the trend of changes in overweight and obesity in the past three years,so as to provide a reference for further developing obesity prevention and control strategies.Methods Using the survey data of the Common Disease Monitoring Project for Students in Changsha from 2019 to 2021,13 350 primary and secondary school students with complete data were selected as the analysis objects.The logistic regression model was used to analyze the trend of changes in the detection rate of overweight or obesity.Results In 2021,the detection rate of overweight among primary and secondary school students in Changsha was 17.18%,and the detection rate of obesity was 13.38%.The detection rate of overweight and obesity in boys was higher than that in girls(both P<0.05),and the detection rate of obesity in primary schools was higher than that in junior high schools and high schools(P<0.01).The obesity rate increased from 10.69%in 2019 to 13.38%in 2021.After adjusting for region,gender,and age,the overall detection rate of obesity showed an upward trend(x2trend=16.209,P<0.01);however,the average growth rate of obesity in 2021 was lower than that in 2020(11.88%vs 17.40%).Conclusion From 2019 to 2021,the detection rate of obesity among primary and secondary school students in Changsha showed an upward trend with a slowing growth rate,but it was still in an epidemic state.Comprehensive intervention measures should be focused on primary school students to curb the occurrence and development of overweight and obesity.
