Correlation analysis of social appearance anxiety and negative physical self in nursing students
Objective To explore the correlation between social appearance anxiety and negative physical self in nursing students.Methods A total of 230 nursing students from 2 universities in Hunan Province and Shaanxi Province were investigated with the general information questionnaire,social appearance anxiety scale and negative body self-scale during October to December 2022.Results The score of social appearance anxiety and negative physical self was(45.54±16.36)and(71.89±27.44)points respectively.There was a positive correlation between social appearance anxiety and negative physical self(r=0.599,P＜0.01).The social appearance anxiety was affected by age,place of residence,family atmosphere,and negative physical self(all P＜0.05).Conclusion Nursing students have a moderate level of social appearance anxiety,and the negative physical self plays an important role in social appearance anxiety.Nursing students can reduce their social appearance and negative physical self through psychological counseling and improving family atmosphere,then to promote their mental health development.
