Analysis on situation and influencing factors of trying traditional tobacco products and e-cigarettes among adolescents in Minhang District of Shanghai City
Objective To understand the situation and influencing factors of adolescents'attempts to use traditional tobacco products and electronic cigarettes in Minhang District of Shanghai City,and provide scientific evidence for adolescent smoking control policies and measures.Methods A multi-stage cluster random sampling method was used to select a total of 729 students from 3 junior high schools and 3 high schools(2 ordinary high schools and 1 vocational high school)in Minhang District of Shanghai City in 2021.The survey was conducted using an online questionnaire.Results The tobacco product attempt rate among adolescents in Minhang District of Shanghai City was 5.49％,and the electronic cigarette attempt rate was 4.39％.Smoking makes young people look more attractive,the difficulty of quitting smoking,the denial that smoking in public places makes people feel comfortable,and seeing someone smoking on public transportation in the past 7 days were the influencing factors for adolescents to try tobacco products(all P＜0.05).School type,whether parents smoke,whether there are people who smoke in their friends,whether smoking makes young people look more attractive,whether teachers smoke on campus during school,and whether they think that second-hand smoke will affect you were the influencing factors for adolescents to use electronic cigarettes(all P＜0.05).Conclusion It is necessary to continue to strengthen the education of the dangers of tobacco and electronic cigarettes among adolescents,attach importance to peer education,continue to vigorously promote smoke-free families and prohibit smoking in public places,and create a good smoke-free environment for adolescents.
