Research progress on multi-system health damage of worker by occupational manganese exposure
Manganese is a necessary microelement for human growth, development and health maintenance, but long-term occupational exposure would cause adverse health consequences. Many studies have identified the association between manganese exposure and neurological abnormalities, but some new research suggests that manganese exposure may be related to other organ dysfunction.Lung is one of the main organs for manganese absorption, and the liver participates in the process of stable regulation and clearance process through bile. The article reviews the research on the multi-system health damage, exposure biomarkers and cellular molecular mechanisms of occupational manganese exposure, aim at providing a scientific basis for improving the health monitoring system of manganese exposed workers.
