Relationship between academic procrastination,academic burnout and self-efficacy among 426 undergraduate nursing interns in Sichuan Province
Objective To understand the relationship between academic procrastination,academic burnout,and self-efficacy among undergraduate nursing interns,and analyze the mediating role of self-efficacy between academic procrastination and academic burnout among undergraduate nursing interns.Methods From September to October 2022,a cluster sampling method was used to select 426 undergraduate nursing interns from three universities in Sichuan Province as the survey subjects.A questionnaire survey was conducted using general information questionnaire,procrastination questionnaire,adolescent learning burnout scale,and general self-efficacy scale.The structural process model was used to verify the mediating role of self-efficacy between academic procrastination and academic burnout.Results Totally 134 out of 426 undergraduate nursing interns in Sichuan Province experienced academic procrastination.The academic procrastination score of 426 undergraduate nursing interns was(2.44±0.69)points,the learning burnout score was(2.59±0.49)points,and the self-efficacy score was(2.36±0.49)points.Academic procrastination was positively correlated with academic burnout(r=0.570,P<0.01),while academic procrastination was negatively correlated with self-efficacy(r=-0.193,P<0.01),academic burnout was negatively correlated with self-efficacy(r=-0.447,P<0.01).School performance,total score of academic procrastination,and total score of self-efficacy were the main influencing factors of academic burnout(all P<0.01).The mediating effect of self-efficacy accounted for 11.95%of the total effect.Conclusion Self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between academic procrastination and academic burnout.Academic procrastination can not only directly predict the occurrence of academic burnout,but also play a role in the academic burnout of undergraduate nursing interns by affecting their self-efficacy.
