Analysis on current situation and relationship between short video use and learning motivation of senior three students in Tianjin urban and rural integration areas under the"double reduction"policy
Objective To understand the current situation of senior three students'use of short videos and learning motivation in the urban and rural integration areas of Tianjin under the"double reduction"policy,analyze the relationship between short video use and learning motivation,and provide feasible methods and ways to improve the learning motivation of senior three students in urban and rural combined areas.Methods From May to July 2023,a cluster sampling method was adopted to select 5 high schools in the urban-rural combination areas of Tianjin for questionnaire survey.A self-designed short video usage scale and learning motivation scale were used to analyze and evaluate the level of short video usage and learning motivation among senior three students in the urban-rural combination areas.Multivariate logistic regression was used to explore the influencing factors of short video usage and learning motivation.Results The score for short video usage among 455 senior three students from 5 high schools was(38.18±8.53)points,with an average score of(2.72±0.61)points for each item.The overall score for learning motivation was(59.82±7.29)points,with an average score of(2.30±0.28)points for each item.The content dimension of short video usage was positively correlated with the social orientation dimension of learning motivation(r=0.322,P<0.01),while the time dimension of short video usage was negatively correlated with the personal achievement dimension of learning motivation(r=0.204,P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in learning motivation among senior three students in urban-rural fringe areas with different family economic statuses(P<0.01).In this study,the number of people who use the"Douyin"short video APP,choose to open short videos in the"evening",are interested in the"variety"content,pay attention to the"professionalism"of short video bloggers,and influence the"life tips"were the largest,with 241(52.97%),298(65.49%),211(46.37%),357(78.46%),and 170(37.36%)people,respectively.The number of people who use the"Volcano Video"short video app,choose to open short videos at"midnight",are interested in"learning skills"content,pay attention to the"appearance"of short video bloggers,and influence"star chasing choices"were the least,with 2(0.44%),19(4.18%),193(42.42%),105(23.08%),and 53(11.65%)people,respectively.Lack of self-discipline,watching short videos at midnight,and having nothing to do in free time were related to students'low learning motivation(OR=1.753,3.824,2.411,all P<0.05),watching inspirational content,watching content that broadens horizons,watching bloggers with higher professional traits,and watching content with positive and healthy energy were related to students'high learning motivation(OR=0.431,0.540,0.297,0.737,all P<0.05).Conclusion The learning motivation level of senior three students in the urban and rural combined areas of Tianjin is generally low,and sufficient attention and importance should be given.The relationship between the use of short videos and learning motivation is significant.Schools,families,and students should pay attention to guiding and self-regulation of the use of short videos to improve the learning motivation level of senior three students.
