Characteristics of Frailty Animal Models Established Based on Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Clinical Symptoms
With the aggravating of global aging, frailty has become one of the major problems in geriatric research in recent years.Therefore,estab-lishing the animal models of frailty is of great significance. This paper evaluates the advantages and limitations of the current modeling meth-ods and analyzes the coincidence of the models established based on the clinical symptoms in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and west-ern medicine. The frailty model induced by lipopolysaccharide highly matches the western medicine symptoms and the natural frailty model fits well with TCM symptoms. The animal model established with frailty index as the evaluation criteria demonstrates high coincidence with the syndrome characteristics, and the model established with the inducing method has more elements of TCM syndrome. This paper can guide the development of the evaluation criteria for the animal models of frailty, which facilitates the establishment of frailty models more consistent with the clinical characteristics of TCM and western medicine and promotes the in-depth study of frailty.
