Animal Models of Urinary Tract Stones Based on Characteristics of Clinical Symptoms of TCM and Western Medicine
Based on the clinical diagnostic criteria of western medicine and Bianzheng(辩证)criteria of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)of u-rinary tract stones, the present study summarized the modeling methods and characteristics of animal models of urinary tract stones, evaluated their advantages and disadvantages, and analyzed the degree of fit with the clinical characteristics of TCM and western medicine. The results showed that there were many methods to replicate animal models of urinary tract stones, among which the models with a high degree of fit in-cluded the kidney stone model induced by oxalic acid precursor, the kidney stone model caused by nanoparticle injection, and the ureteral stone model caused by surgical method.Although there were many modeling methods,Bingzheng(病证)in TCM was less reflected in mod-els.Besides,the detection indexes of model animals were different from the diagnostic criteria of TCM and western medicine. Therefore, the establishment of animal models of urinary tract stones with a high clinical degree of fit in TCM and the improvement of their evaluation criteria are the key directions for the future research of urinary tract stones in TCM.
