Research Progress on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its Active Ingredients Targeting lncRNA for the Treatment of Ovarian Cancer
Long non-coding RNA(lncRNA)is a class of RNA with a length of more than 200 nucleotides and no protein coding function.Current-ly,lncRNA has been found to participate in the life process of ovarian cancer(OC)by regulating the proliferation, migration and invasion of cancer cells, the apoptosis and sensitivity of drug-resistant cells and epithelial mesenchymal transformation.Understanding the role of lncRNA is of great importance to reveal the tumorigenesis mechanism behind OC and explore new therapeutic targets. In recent years, traditional Chi-nese medicine(TCM)has gained attention in the field of OC treatment due to its high safety and few side effects.A number of domestic and foreign studies have found that TCM can target multiple lncRNA to affect the biological behavior of cancer cells. The regulation of multiple signaling pathways is considered to play an extremely important role in this process, but a unified consensus on the mechanisms has not yet been reached.By reviewing several databases,we have summarized the research on how TCM and its active ingredients, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, saponins, and alkaloids, regulate lncRNA to combat OC.It has been found that all of these ingredients target different lncRNA to regulate OC growth, apoptosis or sensitivity of drug-resistant cells. Our work not only provides a new perspective for studying the mechanisms through which TCM exerts the effects in OC treatment, but also offers a basis for further research and clinical application and promotion.
