Research Progress on Modern Applications and Function of Bailing(百令)Capsules in Tonifying Lungs and Nourishing Kidneys
Cordyceps is a traditional,valuable deficiency-tonifying drug.From the description in the Essentials of Materia Medica(Ben Cao Bei Yao)that"(Cordyceps is)sweet and neutral,and can tonify lungs and nourish kidneys,stop bleeding,and dissolve phlegm"to its entry in the current edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia,which states that"it can tonify lungs and nourish kidneys,stop bleeding,and dissolve phlegm",Cordyceps has been extensively discussed in classical TCM literature across generations.Bailing(百令)Capsules are made from the myceli-um of Cordyceps sinensis fermented at low temperatures,with a composition similar to that of natural Cordyceps,and the traditional effects of"tonifying lungs and nourishing kidneys"are definite.This paper reviewed the clinical applications of Bailing Capsules in relation to the lungs,kidneys,reproductive system,and thyroid,focusing on its main active ingredients.Additionally,it further analyzed the current development status,research limitations,and application prospects of Bailing Capsules,aiming to provide a possible reference for expanding the clinical use and deepening the biological research of Bailing Capsules.
