Effects of Spleen-Fortifying and Detoxifying Therapy Combined with Cinobufagin Capsules on Endocrine,Metabolism, and Cancer-Related Fatigue in Patients with Colorectal Cancer
Objective:To investigate the effects of spleen-fortifying and detoxifying therapy combined with cinobufagin capsules on endocrine function, metabolism, and cancer-related fatigue in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods:Eighty patients with colorectal cancer admitted to Changzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and Wujin Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from December 2021 to December 2023 were included in this study. The patients were randomly divided into two groups of 40,with odd numbers assigned to the control group and even numbers to the observation group. Both groups received chemotherapy, with the control group given cinobufagin capsules and the observation group receiving additional spleen-fortifying and detoxifying therapy.Outcomes included Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, endocrine hormone levels[adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH),cortisol(Cor),and free triiodothyronine(FT3)],energy metabolism markers[prealbumin(PA),albumin(ALB),and transferrin(TRF)],immune function markers[CD4+,CD8+,and CD4+/CD8+ratio],and cancer-related fatigue levels assessed by the Piper Fatigue Scale.Results:Post-treatment,the observation group showed lower scores in TCM syndrome indicators such as insomnia, fatigue, abdominal distension, and irritability compared to the control group(P<0.05).ACTH levels were lower(P<0.05),while Cor and FT3 levels were higher in the observation group(P<0.05).Additionally,PA,ALB,and TRF levels were significantly higher in the observation group(P<0.05).The observation group exhibited higher CD4+and CD4+/CD8+ratios and lower CD8+levels(P<0.05).Scores for cognitive, sensory, emotional, and behavioral fatigue were also lower in the observation group(P<0.05).Moreover,the observation group had lower incidences of symptoms such as bloody stool, changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, oral ulcers, and fatigue(P<0.05).Conclusion:Spleen-fortifying and detoxifying therapy combined with cinobufagin capsules significantly improves endocrine and metabolic function, enhances immune function, and effectively alleviates cancer-related fatigue in colorectal cancer patients, thereby improving therapeutic efficacy and quality of life.
