Clinical Efficacy of Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction on Elderly Patients with Spleen and Stomach Deficiency-Cold Type Gastric Ulcer and Its Effects on Serum EGF,TIMP-1,and PGE2 Levels
Objective:To evaluate the effects of Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction on elderly patients with spleen and stomach deficiency-cold type gastric ulcer.Methods:This study included 84 patients with spleen and stomach deficiency-cold type gastric ulcer who were treated at Sun Simiao Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine between July 2021 and May 2023.The patients were randomly divided into a Western medicine group and a combination group,with 42 patients in each group.The Western medicine group received conventional Western medicine treatment,while the combination group was treated the same in addition to Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction.Ulcer healing,intestinal flora distribution,gastric mucosal morphology,gastric mucosal function indices,serum biomarkers,and adverse reactions were analyzed before and after treatment in both groups.Results:The ulcer healing rate in the combination group was 92.86％(39/42),significantly higher than 76.19％(32/42)in the Western medicine group(P＜0.05).The combination group had lower scores for mucosal thickness,inflammatory cell infiltration,and glandular density changes compared to the Western medicine group(P＜0.01).After treatment,the levels of Enterobacter,Enterococcus,Bifidobacterium,and Lactobacillus in the combination group were higher than those in the Western medicine group(P＜0.05,P＜0.01).The combination group showed higher levels of PG Ⅱ,PG Ⅰ/PG Ⅱ ratio,EGF,and PGE2,while PG Ⅱ and TIMP-1 levels were lower compared to the Western medicine group(P＜0.01).The incidence of adverse events(nausea,diarrhea,loss of appetite)in the combination group was not significantly different from the Western medicine group(P＞0.05).Conclusion:Huangqi Jianzhong Decoction is effective in treating elderly patients with spleen and stomach deficiency-cold type gastric ulcer,significantly improving ulcer healing,gastric mucosal morphology,gastric mucosal function indices,and serum biomarker levels.It is safe and effective,and warrants further clinical promotion.
