Study on Analgesic and Anti-Inflammatory Effects in Methanol Extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.and Its Effect on Bacteria in vitro
Objective:To investigate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects in methanol extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.and its effect on bacteria in vitro and to provide scientific experiment evidence for clinical applications. Methods:The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects were observed by using pain models induced by the ear edema of mice induced by xylene, capillary permeability in abdominal cavity of mice, twisting reaction of mice induced by acetic acid and Formalin test.At the same time, different doses were used.Bacteriostatic activities of the methanol extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.were tested by paper disc diffusion method. Results:The methanol extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.could effectively inhibit capillary permeability (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01) and lighten ear edema in mice model (P < 0.05 or P <0.01) and decrease the twisting reaction (P < 0.01) and the ache degree of mice induced by formalin in the first phase (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).There was significant difference of the pain intensity decrease in the high dose group at the second phase (P < 0.05).The methanol extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.have different degrees of inhibition on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and the antibacterial rate reached to 89.67% and 66.00%.Conclusion:The methanol extracts of Phyllanthus urinaria L.have significant effects on analgesia and anti-inflammation and against staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in vitro.
