Research Progress on Relationship Between Chemical Characterization and Immune Regulation of Astragalus Polysaccharides
As an important active component of Huangqi(Astragali Radix),astragalus polysaccharide has therapeutic effects on diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, intestinal inflammation and other diseases.A large number of studies have revealed the efficacy and mechanism of astragalus polysaccharide. However, due to the high molecular weight and low solubility of astraga-lus polysaccharides, their clinical application is limited. In recent years, with the progress of drug research,it has been found that moderate structural changes or processing can greatly improve the bioavailability of astragalus polysaccharides, and their chemical characterization is closely related to their biological efficacy. This article reviewed the immunomodulatory effects of different as-tragalus polysaccharide chemical characterization on diabetes, tumor, inflammation, immunosuppression and other diseases in re-cent years. The results showed that astragalus polysaccharide with different molecular weight could improve the immune disorder of diabetes.Astragalus polysaccharides with high branching degree, low to medium molecular weight, high surface area or after se-lenization treatment can promote cancer cell apoptosis and anti-tumor activity by increasing immune organ index and enhancing immune cell activity.Astragalus polysaccharides with low to medium molecular weight and processed with honey can exert anti-inflammatory activity by regulating immune cells, immune organs and immune factors.Astragalus polysaccharides irradiated with medium molecular weight y-ray can improve the immune suppression in the body.In addition,as an immune enhancer, the mo-lecular weight is 5.6 × 103-1.5 × 106 Da.Astragalus polysaccharides can enhance the immune cell activity and specific anti-body titers, and improve the body's immune response ability and vaccine efficacy. This article explored the relationship between chemical characterization and immune regulatory function in order to provide theoretical reference for the clinical application of astragalus polysaccharides and the development of new functional health foods.
