Discussion on Mechanism of Huangqin Decoction(黄芩汤)Treating Ulcerative Colitis from Perspective of"Intestinal Mucosa Barrier Integrity"
Huangqin Decoction(黄芩汤),derived from Treatise on Febrile Diseases,is a classic prescription for treating heat diarrhea and dysentery. It has the effects of clearing the intestines and stopping dysentery,as well as relieving pain in the middle. It is known as the first prescription for treating dysentery in later generations. In modern clinical practice,Huangqin Decoction is mainly used to treat ulcerative colitis.Current research has found that the occurrence of ulcerative colitis is related to the destruc-tion of the integrity of the intestinal mucosa.Huangqin Decoction can protect the mechanical barrier of intestinal mucosa, improve intestinal flora imbalance and regulate biological barrier, alleviate oxidative stress and regulate chemical barrier, alleviate inflam-matory reaction of intestinal mucosa, maintain immune balance in the intestine and protect immune barrier.Huangqin Decoction can treat ulcerative colitis by maintaining the integrity of intestinal mucosa through the above multiple pathways. From the per-spective of intestinal mucosal barrier, the author analyzed the mechanical barrier, biological barrier, chemical barrier, immune bar-rier and cellular signaling pathways(IL-6/JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway,NLRP3/Caspase-1 cell death pathway,TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB).The mechanism of Huangqin Decoction regulating the protection of intestinal mucosal barrier in ulcerative co-litis was discussed in various aspects. In traditional Chinese medicine,Yingwei is the nutritional and defense system of the human body, playing an important role in maintaining the human body's life activities and preventing foreign diseases and pathogens.In-testinal mucosa is the main site for digestion and absorption, and can prevent the invasion of foreign pathogens. It is an important component of the human immune system.Yingwei and intestinal mucosa have similarities, providing ideas for the treatment of in-testinal diseases such as ulcerative colitis from the perspective of regulating Yingwei.
