Gastric stem cells are adult stem cells present in gastric tissue with the potential for self-renewal and directed differentiation.The latest researches show that the proliferation and differentiation of gastric stem cells affect the pathogenesis,pa-thology and prognosis of gastric precancerous diseases.In recent years,studies on the regulation of gastric stem cells by tradition-al Chinese medicine have made some progress.The reports show that there is a certain correlation between the functional charac-teristics of gastric stem cells and the theories of traditional Chinese medicine.In addition,traditional Chinese medicine could play an important role in treating gastric ulcer,chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)and other precancerous diseases by affecting the ex-pressions of gastric stem cell markers,regulating the abnormality of gastric stem cell-related signaling pathways and affecting the proliferation of cancerous gastric stem cells.In this paper,the related research progress of the above-mentioned content in the past ten years was summarized as follows.
