Research Progress on Chemical Composition and Pharmacological Effects of Different Parts of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)and Predictive Analysis on Quality Marker
Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)is a traditional Chinese medicine used to clear heat and purge fire.It has the effects of clearing liver and removing fire,clearing heat and purging fire,brightening eyes,and reducing swelling.There are a va-riety of chemical components in Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.),mainly terpenoids,phenolic acids,flavonoids,organic acids,vol-atile oils and so on.There are differences between ancient and modern medicinal parts of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.).Tra-ditionally,the stem and leaves of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)were used as medicines.The ear of grain of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)is used as medicinal parts in the 2020 Edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.The results show that there is no differ-ence in the chemical composition among the stem,leaves and ear of grain,only the contents of flavonoids and polysaccharides,which are the highest in leaves of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.).Salviaflaside is the characteristic component of the ear of grain,the seeds of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)contain more volatile oil,and β-aromatic alcohol is its unique component.Modern pharmacological studies have shown that Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)is often used in clinical treatment of thyroid cancer,breast cancer,liver cancer,lung cancer,uterine cancer and other cancers.In addition,Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)also has anti-inflammatory,blood pressure,blood lipid,blood sugar,antibacterial,antiviral,antioxidant,sedative and hypnotic effects.By summarizing Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)textual research,the differences of chemical components in different parts and pharmacological effects,the quality markers of Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.)are analyzed from the aspects of plant affinity,evidence of chemical component specificity,traditional efficacy,traditional efficacy,chemical component measurability,compound compatibility environment,etc.It can be inferred that rutin,quercetin,rosmarinic acid,iso-rosmarinic acid,linoleic acid,squalene,β-aromatic alcohol,luteolin,kaempferol,sitosterol and caffeic acid are the other quality markers in Xiakucao(Prunella valgaris L.).
