Structural Characterization of Arctium lappa Polysaccharide and Its Antioxidative,Hypoglycemic and Uric Acid-Lowering Effects
The structural characterization of Arctium lappa polysaccharide(ALP)was analyzed by high performance gel per-meation chromatography, ultraviolet spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance.By studying the scavenging ability of ALP on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH·)free radical and hydroxyl(·OH)free radical, the inhibitory activity of ALP on α-glucosidase and α-amylase,and the inhibitory rate of xanthine oxidase, the antioxi-dant,hypoglycemic and uric acid-lowering effects of ALP in vitro were studied. The results showed that the relative molecular weight of ALP was 1941 Da,which had the structural characteristics of fructose and glucose.ALP showed strong antioxidant abili-ty,hypoglycemic and uric acid-lowering effects in vitro. These results can provide scientific basis for the development of burdock root as functional food and health care product.
