Research Progress of Natural Products with Ameliorating Effects on Cancer Cachexia
Cancer cachexia is a multifactorial wasting syndrome characterized by skeletal muscle atrophy,fat lipolysis,weight loss and anorexia.It is common in terminal cancer patients and seriously affects the life quality and later therapy efficacy.Due to its complex pathogenesis which includes metabolic disorders in multiple organ systems,there is a lack of specific therapeutic drugs for cancer cachexia.With the increase in the depth of cancer cachexia study,some natural products with anti-inflammatory,anti-cancer,antioxidant and other pharmacological activities have shown potential therapeutic effects in improving the symptoms of cancer cachexia.In this review,combined with the laboratory researches,it summarizes the research progress of natural prod-ucts with considerable therapeutic effects on cancer cachexia in recent years,and looked forward to their potential to be used in the treatment of cancer cachexia,in order to provide new thinking for the development of new anti-cancer cachexia drugs.
