Challenges and Transformation Opportunities of Evidence-Based Medicine Faced by Traditional Acupuncture
This paper elevated the challenges and opportunities faced by the field of acupuncture research in recent decades, particularly the controversy surrounding the placebo effect,to the level of an acupuncture crisis. It explored how to understand and promote the scientific and practical aspects of acupuncture within the context of modern science. It reviewed the significant increase in the number of randomized controlled trials on acupuncture, reflecting growing interest and recognition from the global scientific and medical communities.Research has indicated that despite the existence of placebo effects, these acupuncture clini-cal trials demonstrate both physiological effects and non-physiological factors in treating various diseases. The paper also dis-cussed how acupuncture research can seek new theoretical models and research methods to better understand its mechanisms of action and enhance its effectiveness and precision in clinical practice.By comparing research results from different cultures and research backgrounds, the paper revealed the complexity and diversity of acupuncture research,as well as key issues that need to be addressed in future research.Ultimately, the paper emphasized the need for action within the acupuncture community to over-come challenges through rigorous scientific research, integrating ancient acupuncture techniques with modern medical knowledge to provide patients with more effective and safer treatment options.
