From the theory of"correlation between spleen and brain"in TCM,the TCM theory of diabetes-associated cogni-tive decline(DACD),basic research and clinical practice,it explains the basis and strategy of treating DACD from the spleen the-ory.DACD has a complex etiology and pathogenesis,and is located in the brain and related to many organs,but is rooted in spleen.Spleen Qi deficiency,brain marrow deficiency,phlegm clouding the clear orifices,and dampness and blood stasis blocking the ligaments are the keys to cognitive decline due to spleen dysfunction.Based on the theory of"correlation between spleen and brain",this paper analyzed the physiological functions and pathological processes of spleen and brain,revealed the etiology,patho-genesis and treatment ideas of DACD from the perspective of spleen-brain correlation,and explained the modern biological im-plications of the theory of"correlation between spleen and brain".It also explained the modern biological connotation of the"correlation between spleen and brain"theory.
