Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of soaking with Xuebikang formula for the treatment of peripheral neurotoxicity after oxaliplatin chemotherapy.Methods A total of 90 patients with peripheral neurotoxicity who received oxaliplatin chemotherapy were randomly divided into the treatment group(n = 45)and the control group(n = 45)according to random number table.The treatment group was treated with daily soaking of Xuebikang formula,while the control group was treated with daily soaking of warm water.The treatment lasted for 30 minutes,and the course of treatment for both groups was 8 weeks.The improvement of peripheral neurotoxicity and limb numbness,peripheral nerve conduction rate,and quality of life were compared between the two groups.Besides,blood routine,liver function,and kidney function changes before and after treatment were compared to evaluate the safety of the treatment.Results①After treatment,the improvement of peripheral neurotoxicity in the treatment group was significantly superior to the control group.The total effective rate of the treatment group was 68.18%while the control group was 35.71%,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).②After treatment,the degree of limb numbness in both groups showed a decreasing trend.After the second course of treatment,the degree of limb numbness in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group.③After treatment,motor nerve conduction velocity(MCV)and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SCV)of median nerves and peroneal nerves in the treatment group were significantly increased,and the quality of life was remarkably improved.④ After treatment,there was no significant abnormality in blood routine,liver function,and kidney function between the two groups(P>0.05),which confirmed high safety of Xuebikang formula.Conclusion Soaking with Xuebikang formula can significantly improve peripheral neuropathy and limb numbness caused by oxaliplatin chemotherapy,and effectively improve peripheral nerve conduction velocity and life quality with high safety.
