The Sense of Community of the Chinese Nation in the Multicultural Fusion of Ancient Dunhuang
The ancient Dunhuang region was home to various ethnic groups, including not only various ethnic groups within China but also foreigners from West Asia,South Asia,Central Asia,as well as Japan and the Korean Peninsula. They lived together peaceful-ly for a long time, with frequent cultural exchanges, and a high degree of mutual cultural recognition.Despite differences and occasional conflicts between different ethnic groups, there was overall a close inheritance of Chinese culture. With numerous religions coexisting in Dunhuang among different ethnic groups, they also mutually influenced each other.Within the cultural mosaic of Dunhuang,Han cul-ture consistently occupied a central position, and diverse cultures developed around this core, regardless of whether they were Han or other ethnic groups. They all looked to the Central Plains, esteemed Central Plains culture, and from the"Hua'xin"(the heart of Chi-na)to the"Guiyi"(the return to righteousness),condensed the formation and development process of the sense of community of the Chinese nation.
