Firstly, the cotton yarn was modified by cationic modification, and the quaternary ammonium group was successfully introduced into the cellulose. The surface elements and crystalline properties of cellulose were characterized by FTIR spectra and XRD.Secondly, the environment-friendly dyeing process was achieved with 1,3-dihydroxyacetone(DHA)instead of sodium sulfide to reduce sulphur black. The reduction process of the dye was optimized through orthogonal experiments. The results show that during the cationic modification, the degree of crystallinity is decreased from 62.1%to 48.9%.The K/S value of modified yarn dyed with 40 g/L sulphur black is the same as that of yarn dyed with 60 g/L sulphur black, and the cationization increases the dyeing rate. The optimized reduction process is optimized by orthogonal experiment as follows:the mass ratio of sulphur black and DHA is 1∶1,the caustic soda concentration is 4 g/L and reduction temperature is 80℃.Finally,the cationic cotton yarn is dyed with sulphur black reduced with DHA,and the dyeing K/S value is the highest by 38.29.The rubbing fastness is improved obviously.
