Effects of Xanthan Gum Pretreatment on Inkjet Printing of Hemp Fabrics
To improve the color strength and sharpness of hemp inkjet-printed fabrics, the hemp fabric was pretreated with xanthan gum.The results show that, compared with sodium alginate pretreatment, the wetting time of XG pretreated fabric increases from 32.18 s to 98.19 s and the contact angle increases from 70.13° to 84.22°.These results indicate that the film constructed by XG on the fabric surface increases the hydrophobicity of the fabrics, which inhibits the dyes on the fabrics and improves the inkjet printing performance. When the pretreatment solution is 1.5%XG,10.0%urea and 2.0%NaHCO3,and the steaming time is 10 minutes, the color depth of fabric reaches the maximum values. At this time, compared with SA pretreated fabrics, the K/S values of cyan, magenta, yellow and black color block increase by 33.5%,20.2%,42.6%and 109.3%,respectively,and the XG pretreated fabrics show excellent inkjet printing results. At the same time, the rubbing and washing fastness are all above grade 4.
