The shaping of character images in Life is Elsewhere from the perspective of the dual narrative process
Milan Kundera's novel Life is Elsewhere features a prominent and latent dual narrative process. The explicit narrative and the implicit process complement and supplement each other, and are juxtaposed for the development of the story, which has become a highlight in the novel's narrative.Based on Shendan's theory of"covert progression",this study investigates the three main characters from both the explicit and implicit narrative dimensions in order to shed light on the crucial role of the dual narrative process in the shaping of character images.
