The Version Evolution and Historical Value of He Shengsan's Beijing Mandarin Grammar
He Shengsan,a Japanese researcher of modern Chinese grammar, published four interrelated Chinese grammar works from 1919 to 1936.This paper analyzes the differences between the versions from four aspects:general content,grammati-cal scope, lexical framework, and syntactic system.Based on the comparison with the Chinese grammar works of Chinese and Japanese scholars during the same period, the author proposes that the grammar system is complete and clearly classified, and the grammar analysis integrates the research results of multiple grammar works in China and Japan and that grammar awareness has multiple relationships with historical, cultural, political and other factors at that time. The series of works by He Shengsan on Chi-nese grammar, reflecting the process of reference turning in the study of modern Chinese grammar in Japan,is an important mate-rial for improving the study of the history of Japanese Chinese grammar.
