The Musical Relationship Between Fujian and Taiwan in the Perspective of the Musical Form in the Folk Song "Diudiu Tongzi"
Folk songs reflect the traditional cultural aspects of a nation both in literature and music,and the folk songs across the Taiwan Strait,in their lyrics and melodies,exhibit the inseparable cultural ties between Fujian and Taiwan. "Diudiu Tongzi",literally meaning throwing copper coins,with Yilan tune,is a Taiwanese folk song,but it is intricately connected with Minnan mu-sic. By tracing its historical originsand analyzing its musical form from the perspective of ethnomusicology,this paper examines its integration with Minnan-style melodies and Hakka lyrics and explores the relationship between Fujian and Taiwanese in musi-cal elements,providing insights into its historical and cultural significance within Taiwanese society and the reflectionon the Fuji-an-Taiwanese musical relationship entailed in the musicalform.
