Modern Literati's Letters in The Scrapbookof Qiushi Studio
The Scrapbook of Qiushi Studio,a manuscript of poems and articles and scrapbook of Mu Shouqi,a scholar from Gansu during the late Qing Dynasty and the ROC period,contains many letters kept by him. These letters truly reflect the voices of the Mu's social circle,witnessing the joys and sorrows of a generation of intellectuals,so they have important historical value. We analyze 19 letters from Chen Chang,Zhou Yingfeng,Li Yuanhong,Liu Erxin,Cheng Tianxi,Liu Qingdu,Qin Wanglan,Fan Zhenxu,Yan Yushan,Xu Chengyao,Liao Yuanji,Li Keming,Wang Xueyi,Zhang Jian,Zhao Yuanzhen,Xiong Xianfang,Li Gong,Jia Bingquan,and the Institute of Chinese Culture at Jinling University,and find that Mu Shouqi,being a highly respected figure in the academic and cultural circles of Longyou at that time,can even be regarded as the central figure in the academic and cultural circles of Lanzhou at that time.
