As the first Okinawan novel to attract widespread attention in the Japanese literary world,Cocktail Party tells a tragic story triggered by the rape of an Okinawan girl by American soldiers. Starting from the Okinawa centric perspective,Tat-suhiro Oshiro accused the falsehood of the "US Okinawa Friendship" policy,focusing on the propaganda mechanism of the US military stationed in Okinawa and its political status that is above Okinawa's laws. While writing about the issue of the US mili-tary,the author added a large number of Chinese elements related to the Okinawa issue in the novel. In comparison with the histo-ry and society of Okinawa,China has become a unique method for Tatsuhiro Oshiroto examine Okinawa's history and to ques-tion its reality.
