The Research of Guanxi and Local Communication:from the Perspective of Mediatization
The concept of"Guanxi"is a relatively mature and localized theoretical achievement,which has a natural kinship with communication and can be applied to communication studies.Media,as an infrastructure,can be seen as a key variable in the study of Guanxi to fill the gaps in existing study.In China,Guanxi is not an essential concept,but a way for people to handle problems,with its connotation full of openness,experience,and a sense of history.It can be seen as an effective channel for localizing communication studies,and media is its fulcrum.Media can gradually reshape the form and culture of Guanxi through organizing time and space,culti-vating habits,and reconstructing power.Therefore,the localization of communication studies can start from media practice,focusing on the influence of media on the forms and culture of Guanxi,and incorporating it into discussions on issues such as the maintenance and transformation of rural society and social governance.
