On Dialectical Implication and Tension of the"Yu"in Laozi
Chapter 25 of Laozi puts forward that"there are four Bigs in the Yu",which are"Tao,Heaven,Earth and King".The meaning of Laozi shows that"Yu"contains and nurtures"four Bigs".Laozi emphasizes that"there are four Bigs in the Yu",and vaguely states that"Yu"has the basic characteristics and internal tension, which are closely intertwined with nominality and non-nom-inality,spatiotemporal and super spatiotemporal, finiteness and infinity, origin and humanity.Laozi regards"King"as one of the four Bigs in the"Yu",and clarifies why"King"is"Big",that is,to construct the value logic of"man follows the Earth, the Earth follows the Heaven, the Heaven follows the Tao,and the Tao follows nature"from the human starting point, and highlights the initiative of"King"in the"Yu",that is man's spiritual and value status.Laozi uses"King is Big"and"Man follows the land"to clarify the basic path of meaning world generation and the position of"Man"in the"Yu".From the history vision, since the Spring and Autumn-peri-od,scholars of later generations have often interpreted the"Yu"of Laozi in terms of eight poles,no name, universe, space, time and space or field, and gradually formed two basic interpretation orientations:interpreting"Yu"by having or not-having.
