During the upsurge of investigation in the Northwest in the 1930s,a large number of Northwest Travel Records were written,in which the natural environment,social and economic conditions,culture and education,local customs and practices of the Ganqing Ethnic Corridor were recorded in details.Prodigious amounts of records on the population and distribution of the ethnic minori-ties,living customs,and inter-ethnic relations emerged,reflecting the marital relations,economic and social interactions,language integration,and the rise and initial development of modern ethnic education among the Ganqing Ethnic Corridor during this period.They fully embodied the deep interaction and integration among various ethnic groups and the initial germination of the Chinese nation's sense of community.
