A Study on Cold Resistance of Several Bamboo Species under Natural Condition
Under natural condition, the electric conductivity and chlorophyll content of several bamboos species were measured as the temperature changes. The results indicated that the chlorophyll content was closely correlated with temperature, whereas the electric conductivity was negatively correlated with temperature. Phyllostachys aureosulcata f. aureocaulis, aurea and P. glauca were the most winter hardy ones. Pseudosasa japonica cv. Tsutsumiana, P. arcana f. luteosulcata and P. vivax f. aureocaulis were at the second rank. P. nigra, Pleioblastus kongosanensis f. aureostriatus, Sasa pygmaea, Pleioblastus argenteostriatus and Pleioblastus fortunei were not winter hard.
