Isolation and Identification of Sex Pheromones of Adult Melanotus cribricollis in Bamboo Forests
[Objective]Melanotus cribricollis is the most important subterranean pest during the shooting period in bamboo growing area in China, which is the donminant species of bamboo forest wireworms. It is highly valuable to separate and identify the sex pheromones for efficient monitoring and green prevention and control of this pest.[Method]For the first time, the sex pheromone components of the female M.cribricollis adults were separated and identified by using a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry combined with forest trapping and bioassay experiments.[Result]E-11,13-Tetradecadien-1-ol and n-Dodecyl acetate were the key components of sex pheromones of the female M.cribricollis adults. The sex pheromone lure mixed with the two chemicals at a ratio of 25:75 showed a significant attraction towards the male beetles, and the number of adults captured was (60.30±3.05)beetles per trap.Among the 3 compared traps, the collision plate trap had the best attraction effect.[Conclusion]The sex pheromone compounds separated and identified have a strong attraction effect on the beetles, and can be used for population monitoring and prevention and control of the bamboo forest wireworms.
