At the end of the 20th Century, due to changes in medical thinking, the interest in perioperative research increased. In 1999, Kehlet of Denmark put forward the concept of "Accelerated Rehabilitation Technique" and made related studies. It was at this time that new concepts such as "Damage Control Operations" and "Fast Track Surgery" was introduced in the conventional surgical practice, which prioritizes the survival rate and the quality of life of patients over the success rate of the operation.
