World bauxite trade valued at $ 3.07 bn in 2015. According to the recently published Research and Markets report, the global aluminium ore and concentrate trade amounted to 3077 mill. USD in 2015, exhibiting noticeable fluctuations over the period under review. A significant drop in 2009 was followed by volatile recovery over the next four years, until exports decreased again. Overall, there was an annual increase of 5.5 % from 2007 to 2015. Australia was the global leader in the supplies of aluminium ores and concentrates. In 2015, Australia's aluminium ore and concentrate exports totalled 778.1 mill. USD, which accounted for a 25 % share of global exports. Malaysia, Guinea, Brazil, and India were the other key global suppliers of aluminium ores and concentrates in 2015, with a 59 % combined share of global exports. Malaysia (+100.4 %/a) and Australia (+21.4 %/a) were the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2015. Malaysia significantly strengthened its position in the global export structure, growing its share from 0.14 % in 2007 to 23 % in 2015. On the other hand, China (59 %, based on value terms),USA (9 %), Ireland (5 %), Spain (4 %),and Ukraine (4 %) were the leading destinations of aluminium ore and concentrate imports in 2015. Imports to China grew at a rapid pace of +14.1 %/a from 2007 to 2015. By contrast, the USA slightly contracted its imports of aluminium ores and concentrates over the same period. China's share of global imports increased by 29 percentage points, while the share of the USA illustrated negative dynamics (-6 percentage points).
