The Charpy impact values for both flat and corner parts of theBCR295 steel column at the high temperature and after theheating and cooling processes were investigated. According tothe high temperature experimental results, it was confirmed thatthe Charpy impact values hardly decrease in the blue brittlenesstemperature regions between 100 and 300 ℃. From theexperimental results after the heating and cooling processes, itwas clarified that the specimens subjected to the water-coolingprocess (quenching by the water) possess the low Charpy impactvalues because of the occurrence of microstructuretransformation. Furthermore, for the specimen subjected to theair-cooling process from the blue brittleness temperature, theCharpy impact values of the corner parts in the cross sectionremarkably reduce because of the strain ageing.
