In the previous study1, the strengthening method by installingwing walls beside the existing columns has been applied andexperimentally verified for upgrading the exterior RC beamcolumnjoint with vulnerability in beam rebar anchorage.Although the strengthening method aims to upgrade the jointperformance, it can effectively strengthen the existing columns aswell. In this paper, the strengths of columns strengthened withwing walls are evaluated. Then, a conservative value is proposedfor evaluating strength contribution by wing wall in term of thestrength index for the first level evaluation in the Japaneseguidelines.
