China’s rural population grew from 484 million in 1949 andpeaked to 859 million in 1995. Since then the rural population hasbeen continued to decline, dropped to 564 million in 2018.Migrant workers from rural areas in 2018 reached 174 millionwhile national urbanization level was 59.58% [1], it is foreseeablethat the rural population will continue to migrate to the cities, andthe rural depopulation will further intensify.
