This essay sets out terms of engagement for the second Digital Creativity special issue on Design Fictions. It provides an overview of the essays submitted and their interconnected themes and concerns before offering an update on the provisional taxonomy of design fictions of the first issue with some further observation and philosophical R&D on speculative design attempting to get beyond the diegetic frame defining this field of practice.
