Chile's copper production totaled 359,832 metric tons in April, down 5.2 percent from the same month a year ago, the National Institute of Statistics, or INE, said. Production decreased in April because some of the country's copper miners, particularly Codelco, Escondida, Los Pelambres, Disputada de las Condes, ElAbra, Candelaria, and Cerro Colorado saw production fall during the month, INE aid. Also, the El Indio mine closed, INE said. Together, these operations account for 73 percent of national copper output.
