The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) wants to increase its exports to the Latin American countries. The council has found that the Latin American countries sourced most of their gems and jewellery requirements from the US, Italy and Hong Kong. According to the GJEPC chairman Sanjay Kothari, Indian merchandise was finding its way in the Latin American markets via the American markets and there was huge opportunity in the LatAm countries to market Indian merchandise. A delegation of the council recently visited four major Latin American-Peru, Panama, Chile and Brazil.
