Centaurea achilleifolia (C. sect. Melanoloma) is illustrated and described as a new species, with records in the Oriental Middle-Atlas of Morocco (Bou Naceur mountain). It differs from similar taxa in the section by its peculiar bipinnatisect leaves, which recall some Achillea species.
