Through the use of a new tundish steel level sensingsystem combined with an automatic control strategy, it has becomepossible to drain the tundish to a very low level with good safety andrepeatability. This has resulted in increased yield of cast slab fromliquid steel and has reduced the strand length scrapped anddowngraded from grade changes.
