Chile's copper production totaled 402,652 metric tons in May, down 3.3 percent from the same month a year ago, the National Institute of Statistics, or INE, said. Production deceased in May because some of the country's copper miners, in particular Codelco, Los Pelambres, Disputada de las Condes, Abra, Cerro Colorado and Mantos Blancos saw production fall during the month, INE said. Also, the El Indio mine closed down all together, INE said. Together, those operations account for 54 percent of all national copper output.
