Production of zinc ingots from Iran is expected to climb to 105,000 metric tons per year in 2002 from 73,000 tons in 2001, Mohammed Abbsali Pour, managing director of the National Iranian Lead and zinc company said at Metal Bulletin's 6th International Zinc and its Markets conference in Amsterdam. This compares to an estimated jump in total smelter capacity from 120,000 tons in 2001 to 137,000 tons in 2002, a move which would leave around 32,000 tons of spare capacity.
